Betsy Fein is the founder and owner of Clutterbusters!! www.clutterbusters.com–a company that helps people get organized in their homes and offices. Clutterbusters!! is located in Rockville, Maryland, and is run out of a very uncluttered home office. It’s been in business since 2002. Betsy has 2 kids– Natalie (15) and Noah (12) who help too, primarily by staying out of Mom’s way when she’s in her office. Betsy thinks her key to success is to “think like a clutterer” and try to help her clients acknowledge that they may not need to keep a receipt for a donut they bought in 1982.
1. What activities do your kids do throughout the year?
My daughter does competitive cheer and is also on the Varsity cheer squad at Richard Montgomery. My son loves flag football but also does chess club, basketball and sometimes soccer—through the years he has tried everything—even took a fencing class!!
2. How do you usually choose your activity provider? (word of mouth, look online, etc)
I always look online and coordinate what works with my schedule—I’m a single mom and can’t be at 2 places at the same time so making sure the activities don’t overlap is important—I love activity rocket because it keeps everything in one place and so much easier to find what activities are around
3. How many kids do you have? And how do you keep track of everyone’s activities?
I have two kids, ages 12 and 15. I keep track of everyone’s schedule in my outlook which is also linked to my phone—its just easier to have everyone’s schedule in one place. I have in the past also used www.cozi.com which is a free online calendar to keep track of all the family stuff
4. Which activity has given your child (or all of them) the biggest boost in confidence?
My daughter has been given more confidence from the cheer classes I found—that helped her improve her skills on the off months and make her more successful when the season started. I also found a lot of great football clinics for my son that improved his skills.
5. What is your favorite activity rocket feature(s)? Which one do you find most helpful? (search,ratings, calendaring, blog, coupons etc)
I like that I can do a very specific search—I recently found a typing class for my son that I would have never found so easily. I also like the start date feature—so I can find activities in advance—I love getting the newsletters and reading the articles and blogs—lots of great information!
